Solaria helps you spend time in the sun more consciously — tracking the UV index, safe sun time, sun sessions, skin recovery, and tanning plans. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1) Information We Collect
A) Information you provide
- Your skin profile: skin type, age range, goal (protection or tanning), and similar answers from onboarding.
- Sun sessions you run or confirm, including duration, SPF applied, and estimated dose.
- Skin check results and how your skin felt after sun exposure.
- Recovery and tanning plan choices, including care tasks you mark as done.
- A profile photo, if you choose to add one from your camera or photo library.
- Feedback you choose to send us: selected feature requests, an optional comment, and — if you go through the subscription cancellation flow — the reason you select and an optional comment.
- Settings such as language, units, notification preferences, and your selected location.
B) Information collected automatically
Depending on your device and the permissions you grant, we may collect:
- Location. Precise location is used to fetch the UV index and weather forecast for where you are. If you grant "Always" access, the App may also use location in the background to notice when you go outside and offer to start a sun session. You can instead select a location manually, and you can change or revoke this permission at any time.
- Motion and activity data. Used only to help detect that you are outdoors and moving, so the App can suggest a session.
- App usage analytics (for example, screens viewed, key actions, session duration).
- Technical and diagnostic data (for example, device model, OS version, app version, language, error information).
- Advertising and attribution identifiers, if you allow tracking (see section 4).
We do not collect your contacts, microphone recordings, or health data from Apple Health.
2) How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Calculate the UV index, safe sun time, estimated dose, vitamin D estimates, and personalized recommendations.
- Run and track sun sessions, recovery windows, and tanning plans.
- Show your history, streaks, achievements, and Sun Passport.
- Deliver notifications, if enabled — for example sunscreen reminders, session prompts, or recovery updates.
- Power the home screen widget and Live Activities.
- Handle subscriptions, purchases, and restoring access.
- Understand which features are used and how the App performs, so we can improve reliability and the user experience.
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing, if you allow tracking.
- Respond to feedback and support requests you send us.
3) Where Your Data Is Stored
A) On-device data
Your skin profile, sessions, skin checks, recovery and tanning plans, history, and settings are stored locally on your device. Your device may also include app data in iCloud or device backups, depending on your Apple and device settings, which are controlled by Apple and by you.
Your profile photo stays on your device. We do not upload it.
B) Third-party services
Some features rely on third-party services:
- Weather and UV data (Open-Meteo). To fetch a forecast, your coordinates — or those of the location you selected — are sent to the weather provider. No account, name, or identifier of yours is attached to that request.
- Subscriptions and paywalls (RevenueCat + Apple). Purchases are handled by Apple's In-App Purchase system. RevenueCat manages offers and subscription status and receives a pseudonymous app user ID along with purchase and device information.
- Analytics (AppMetrica). Used to understand how the App is used and to diagnose problems. It may collect interaction events, device information, and performance metrics.
- Attribution (AppsFlyer). Used to understand which campaign brought a user to the App. It may collect device and installation information, and advertising identifiers where permitted.
- Feedback storage (Supabase). If you submit a feature request or complete the subscription cancellation survey, we store what you selected, your optional comment, your app language and version, and a pseudonymous subscription user ID.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms and may process it outside your country. We only share information that is needed to provide the relevant feature.
4) App Tracking Transparency
On first launch, iOS may ask whether Solaria can track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline, we do not access your device's advertising identifier, and attribution and analytics continue in a limited, non-tracking form. You can change this decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
5) What We Share (and What We Don't)
We do not sell your personal data.
We may share limited information:
- With service providers (analytics, attribution, subscriptions, weather data, feedback storage) to operate Solaria.
- If required by law, for example in response to a valid legal request.
- To protect rights and safety, and to prevent fraud or abuse.
6) Notifications
If you enable notifications, Solaria may schedule reminders — for example to reapply sunscreen, to end a session, or about your skin recovery. You can change this at any time:
- In Solaria Settings → Notifications, and/or
- In iOS Settings → Notifications → Solaria
Notifications are a convenience feature and should not be relied on as a safety mechanism.
7) Purchases and Payments
All payments are processed by Apple. We never receive your full payment details, such as your full card number. Subscription status is handled through Apple and RevenueCat.
8) Data Retention
- On-device data remains until you delete the App or reset your data in Solaria Settings.
- Feedback and cancellation-survey entries you submit are retained until they are no longer needed for product improvement, or until you ask us to delete them.
- Retention of analytics, attribution, and subscription data depends on each provider's settings and policies.
9) Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- Revoke location, motion, camera, notification, or tracking permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
- Choose a location manually instead of granting location access.
- Reset all your data inside Solaria Settings, or delete the App to remove local data.
- Choose not to send feedback or fill in the cancellation survey — both are optional.
- Contact us at support@madebynkt.com with privacy questions.
If you are in a region with legal rights (for example GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. We will respond to reasonable requests as required by law. Because most of your data never leaves your device, in many cases you can exercise these rights directly by resetting your data in the App.
10) Children's Privacy
Solaria is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11) Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted connections to our service providers. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12) Health Disclaimer
Solaria is a general wellness and informational product. It is not a medical device and not a substitute for professional care, and it does not detect, screen for, or prevent sunburn, skin cancer, or any other condition. UV values, safe sun time, dose, and vitamin D figures are estimates based on forecast data and your own input. If you have a severe burn, an unusual skin reaction, or a mole that changes in size, shape, or color, contact a qualified medical professional.
13) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the App means you accept the updated policy.
