These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Solaria mobile application ("Solaria," "App," "we," "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using Solaria, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1) Who We Are and What Solaria Is

Solaria provides informational and self-care tools for spending time in the sun more consciously: current and forecasted UV index for your location, estimated safe sun time, sun session tracking, sunscreen reminders, estimated vitamin D intake, skin recovery plans, tanning programs, and optional logging of how your skin feels.

Solaria is a general wellness and informational product. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not detect, screen for, or prevent sunburn, skin cancer, melanoma, or any other condition.

2) Health & Safety Disclaimer

Solaria's recommendations are general guidance based on models and forecast data, not an assessment of your individual health.

  • Do not rely on Solaria as your only safeguard against sun exposure. Follow the instructions of your sunscreen manufacturer and general sun-safety guidance for your region.
  • If you experience a severe burn, blistering, heat exhaustion or heatstroke symptoms, an unusual skin reaction, or a mole or skin lesion that changes in size, shape, or color, contact a qualified medical professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
  • If you are pregnant, have a skin condition, a photosensitivity disorder, an autoimmune condition, a history of skin cancer, or take medication that increases sun sensitivity, consult your doctor before relying on any recommendation in the App.
  • Any information about vitamin D in the App is an estimate derived from your inputs and forecast data. It is not a measurement of your vitamin D level and must not be used to start, stop, or adjust supplementation or treatment.

You are responsible for your own decisions about sun exposure and skin protection.

3) Accuracy of Data and Recommendations

Solaria relies on third-party weather and UV forecast data, on the sensors and permissions available on your device, and on information you enter yourself (such as skin type, age, or how your skin reacted).

  • Forecast data may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete, or unavailable, and real conditions can differ from the forecast — for example due to cloud cover, altitude, shade, reflection from water, snow, or sand, or local weather changes.
  • Recommendations depend on the accuracy of what you enter. Incorrect or incomplete input will produce incorrect results.
  • Timers, session tracking, and reminders depend on your device, its settings, notification permissions, battery state, and connectivity, and may be delayed or missed.

We do not warrant that any UV value, safe sun time, dose, recovery estimate, or tanning plan is accurate, complete, or suitable for you. Use your own judgment and observe your own skin.

4) Eligibility

You must be able to legally enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use Solaria. Solaria is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction).

5) Your Use of the App

You agree to use Solaria responsibly and not to:

  • Misuse or disrupt the App (including probing, scanning, or testing vulnerabilities).
  • Attempt to access the App or our systems in an unauthorized way.
  • Use the App to violate any law or to harm others.
  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code except where permitted by law.

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you are using the App unlawfully or in a way that harms the App, other users, or us.

6) Location and Device Permissions

To calculate the UV index and personalized recommendations, Solaria needs your location. You may also grant background location and motion access so the App can notice when you go outside and offer to start a sun session. You can select a location manually instead, and you can change or revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Revoking permissions is your right, but some features will stop working or become less accurate. Background location and motion tracking consume battery.

7) Content You Provide

Solaria may allow you to enter content such as your skin profile, sun sessions, skin check results, notes, a profile photo, and feedback ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

By using the App, you grant us a limited right to process your User Content only as needed to provide the features you use — for example storing your history on your device, showing it in your journal and passport, calculating recommendations, or handling feedback you choose to send us.

Your entries are stored on your device. If you delete the App or reset your data in the App, that content is deleted with it and cannot be recovered by us.

8) Subscriptions, Purchases, and Premium Features

Solaria may offer paid subscriptions or premium features. Purchases are handled through Apple's In-App Purchase system.

  • Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID account.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Manage/cancel: You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your iOS subscription settings.
  • Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple according to their policies.

We use third-party tools (e.g., RevenueCat) to display offers and manage subscription status.

9) Notifications, Widgets, and Live Activities

If you enable notifications, Solaria may send reminders — for example to reapply sunscreen, to end a session, or about your recovery plan. Solaria may also provide a home screen widget and Live Activities showing your current session or UV conditions.

Notifications are convenience features and must not be relied on as a safety mechanism. They may be delayed, suppressed, or not delivered at all. You can change notification settings at any time in Solaria Settings and in iOS Settings → Notifications → Solaria.

10) Intellectual Property

Solaria, including its design, branding, graphics, text, and software, is owned by the developer or licensed to the developer and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use Solaria's name, logo, or assets without permission.

11) Third-Party Services and Links

Solaria relies on third-party services (such as weather and UV data providers, analytics, attribution, and subscription infrastructure) and may include links to external websites. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services outside of our control.

12) Disclaimer of Warranties

Solaria is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available, or that its data and recommendations will be accurate.

13) Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of Solaria, including any sunburn, skin damage, or other health consequence resulting from decisions you make while using the App.

If liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for claims related to the App will be limited to the amount you paid for the App or subscription in the last 12 months (or, if you paid nothing, a minimal amount as permitted by law).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14) Changes to the App or Terms

We may update Solaria and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may provide notice within the App or by updating the "Effective date." Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

15) Termination

You may stop using Solaria at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if necessary to protect the App, users, or legal compliance.

16) Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of your place of residence unless local law requires otherwise. If your jurisdiction requires a different governing law or mandatory consumer protections, those rules will apply.
